Angus O’Brien came through the Dragons Academy system and went on to make 70 appearances, scoring 305 points for the region, before leaving to join the Scarlets in 2018. O'Brien went on to make 41 appearances for the West Walians scoring 86 points in his four seasons in Llanelli. The Caerleon born full back, who can also play fly half, also represented Wales Sevens at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

A former Wales Under-20 international, O’Brien rejoined the Dragons ahead of the 2022/2023 season and brought a wealth of experience and versatility on his return to Rodney Parade. He had a stellar season during his first season back in Newport making 15 appearances, scoring four tries with a total of 36 points leading him to being named the Player of the Season at the conclusion of the campaign. 

O'Brien was named Dragons' co-club captain for the 24/25 season and reached a century for the Men of Gwent against Cardiff on Boxing Day that year.
