The award-winning Dragons Community team have delivered another season of impact and inclusion – with over 10,000 community guests welcomed across match days at Rodney Parade.
Every match day at the home of the Men of Gwent has been driven by the same passion, energy, and commitment to creating positive experiences for everyone who attends.
The players, clubs, schools, families, volunteers and supporters continue to make Rodney Parade a special place and as our home game calendar comes to a close the impact rugby can have in bringing communities together is clear to see.
This season the Dragons Community team has proudly delivered:
- 12 home games
- 10,014 community guests welcomed
- 42 grassroots clubs involved in our Guard of Honour / Wall of Honour
- 5 pre-match festivals
- 37 half-time tag matches
The Dragons Community team are determined to build even more momentum next season.
One of the main reasons for the long-term success of our Community Department is the way they operate so smoothly as a team and by building quality working relationships with partners and key community agencies.
Mike Sage is the Head of Community who organises the whole department with great effect and whose enthusiasm and spirit drives the community on.
Steve Lewis is our Dragons Education & Engagement Manager who ensures we deliver a wide-range of programmes, with a focus on the education sector.
Karen Hopkins works as Dragons Inclusion Lead and delivers and grows our inclusion provisions, to breakdown any barriers to participation.
Angharad Kibble works as our Community Education & STEM Officer, working in partnership with semiconductor giants Vishay.
Matthew Sullivan is our Community Officer and delivers our ever-growing Gateway Rugby project to inspire our youngsters and leads on Skills Camps.
Nye Paterson works as a Community Officer, enhancing the continuous growth of our work within both communities and clubs across the region, and delivering our Healthy Dragons Schools programme.
Dan Taylor works as an Community Officer, enhancing the continuous growth of our work within both communities and clubs across the region, and delivering our Healthy Dragons Schools programme.
Dafydd Kingston works as an Community Officer, has experience of working in the ALN sector, which will allow him to contribute a wealth of knowledge to our team.
Morgan Steed is our Inclusion Ambassador and works closely with Karen - he is a shining light that brings enthusiasm and vibrancy to every session he supports.
