Waino & Carter to face Les Bleus

13/02/2026

Aaron Wainwright switches from eight to six on Sunday as Wales host France in the Six Nations while Ben Carter is amongst the replacements.

Wales have made four personnel changes to the XV for the arrival of Les Bleus, with props Rhys Carré and Tomas Francis, centre Joe Hawkins and back rower Olly Cracknell all starting.

Cracknell’s inclusion sees a bit of a rejig in the back row with Cracknell at eight, Wainwright moving to six and Alex Mann from blindside to openside flanker.

Amongst the replacements Nicky Smith and Archie Griffin will play their part off the bench this week and are joined by hooker Ryan Elias and flyhalf Jarrod Evans as Wales opt for a five-three split between forwards and backs.

Elsewhere, Dewi Lake continues to captain the side at hooker, while Dafydd Jenkins and Adam Beard are once again the second row partnership.

Tomos Williams and Dan Edwards are the halfbacks with Hawkins joining Scarlets teammate Eddie James in the centres.

The back three sees Louis Rees-Zammit once again at fullback, alongside wings Ellis Mee and Josh Adams. Taine Plumtree, Kieran Hardy and Mason Grady are once again amongst the replacements alongside Carter.

Tandy said: “There are a few changes for this week. A lot of it is based on who we are playing and then Olly Cracknell has done a full training week this week and also played really well in the autumn.

"We’re excited to get back to Principality Stadium. We had four games in the autumn and the crowd was incredible.

“I know I've spoken a lot about the New Zealand game - the crowd, the energy it brought and the response from players.

“The supporters mean a huge amount to us and they do inspire the players. Our aim on the weekend is to inspire the fans too.”
