Staff from Dragons RFC were recently on hand to join forces with Foster Wales Newport to make a vital donation to Comfort Cases.
We were thrilled to welcome representatives from Foster Wales to our final BKT United Rugby Championship home game of last season with Edinburgh in May.
Launched in July 2021, Foster Wales brings together 22 local authority fostering services as a network to improve the recruitment and retention of foster carers in Wales. Foster Wales aim to encourage more people in Wales to consider fostering with their local authority and support the retention of foster carers by bringing consistency and improving the offer of support, training and additional benefits across Wales.

Staff from Foster Wales were at our Edinburgh fixture to meet fans and explain their work, as well as carry out a bucket collection that raised £238.36.
Thanks to those donations by supporters, Foster Wales has since funded six Comfort Cases for children entering care in an emergency. Dragons RFC Head of Community, Mike Sage, and Business Development Manager, Craig Lewis, were on hand to make the donation to staff from Comfort Wales.
Comfort Cases UK is the only national charity dedicated to eliminating “bin-bagging”. They exist to ensures no child entering or young person enters, moves within or leaves the care system carrying their belongings in a bin bag. Working with frontline professionals across the UK, they provide both thoughtfully packed age-appropriate comfort cases and flat-packed Comfort Duffel XL bags where they are needed most.
