Co-captain Angus O’Brien was the star man the last time Dragons RFC faced Stade Francais Paris in Europe.
The two teams lock horns in the French capital again this Sunday afternoon in the last 16 of the EPCR Challenge Cup (kick-off 12.30pm UK time).
The Men of Gwent have a strong record against the Parisians with three wins out of four games – and playmaker O’Brien knows exactly what it takes to perform in Paris.
O’Brien memorably scored 18 points – with three conversions and four penalties – when the teams last met in October 2014 at Stade Jean Bouin.
On a famous night for Dragons and in a result that stunned European rugby, tries from Richie Rees, Rhys M Thomas, Hallam Amos and Nick Cudd – plus the accurate boot of O’Brien – saw the visitors secure a stunning 38-22 victory.
Dragons were to follow up that epic win in France by completing the double when the teams met again in January 2015 – a result that secured a European Challenge Cup home quarter-final.
The home side raced into a 16-0 lead after 22 minutes thanks to an Elliot Dee try and Tom Prydie's boot.
Stade hit back with tries from centre Krisna Inu and hooker Zurabi Zhvania either side of the break.
T Rhys Thomas' try looked to have sealed it for Dragons, although Remi Bonfils' score ensured a nervy ending as the score ended 30-19 to the hosts.
The teams previously also met in January 2004 with two games over two weekends with very contrasting results.
Dragons were playing in the Heineken Cup that season and a 20-12 win on home soil got their campaign back on track.
Skipper Andy Marinos led the way, claiming a try along with fellow centre Hal Luscombe.
Former Springbok Percy Montgomery added two valuable conversions and a penalty, while fly-half Lee Jarvis added a drop-goal to deny Stade a bonus point.
The visitors battered away at the Dragons line, but staunch defence limited them to four Diego Dominguez penalties as the driving rain and a soggy pitch did not suit the French champions.
The teams would meet again eight days later with Stade gaining revenge as they stormed to a 37-0 win.
Tries that day came from Mathieu Blin, who scored a brace, Ignacio Corleto, Pierre Rabadan and Christophe Dominici. Diego Dominguez scored 12 points.
