Dee and Benjamin facing spells out

25/11/2025

Head Coach Filo Tiatia has confirmed hooking duo Elliot Dee and James Benjamin will face enforced spells out after surgery.

Wales international Dee – who has played 159 games for the Men of Gwent – is scheduled to go under the knife later this week for shoulder surgery.

Team-mate Benjamin – who stands on 104 club appearances - has already had surgery on a groin injury.

“Elliot is scheduled in for an operation at the end of this week. The length of his recovery is still to be determined,” said Tiatia.

“It’s going to be some time, but we’re hopeful that he will be back at the back end of the season.

“Elliot will now work with the medical and S&C team to come back fit and healthy.

“There’s been collaboration between the Wales and Dragons medical teams to get his shoulder right and Elliot has worked hard in rehab, but we now look at another option.

“James Benjamin has had his groin operation, and he’ll be out for a spell too.

“We wish them both well with their rehab and recovery programmes.”

Meanwhile, Tiatia has confirmed prop Dillon Lewis will also be out for a spell with a calf injury.

“Dillon will be back in a little while. He’s recovering well, which is positive,” he added.

“Dillon is a good professional and is working hard. He’s a really positive around the environment and we wish him well during this spell out.”
