Tiatia: It's time to go again

18/12/2025

Head Coach Filo Tiatia wants his Dragons to replicate the final quarter against Lyon when they face Connacht this weekend insisting: it’s time to go again.

Spirits have been high at Ystrad Mynach this week following the EPCR Challenge Cup victory over French opposition on home soil last weekend.

But now the Men of Gwent return to league hostilities with Connacht arriving under the lights for BKT United Rugby Championship action on Saturday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

And Tiatia is keen for Dragons to back up the most recent performance by building more momentum and pressure.

“The mood has been good this week. The players have come in on a short turnaround and are in good spirits and looking forward to the game,” he said.

“We won at the weekend, and you celebrate the moments – but then you go again.

“We have seven more games in this ten-week block and there is a lot more work to do, still things to improve on.

“We know what we need to tidy up, but also what Connacht bring. Our discipline needs to be good and how we impose our game. The last 14 minutes against Lyon we showed what we could do.

“We’ve got to take our chances and not allow opportunities for Connacht. “We played free,” he reflected on the final quarter against Lyon.

“The players felt we were in gear three for most of the game - and we are pretty good at chasing the game!

“The simplicity of the way we played that last quarter and attacked the gain line. We built pressure and momentum.

“Che Hope was very good, and players then play on top. We managed to create pressure, the referee was involved, we got to the corner, and the forwards did a great job with maul tries.”
