Dragons Under 18s produced a superb attacking display scoring 11 tries as they beat Rygbi Gogledd Cymru at the Centre of Sporting Excellence Ystrad Mynach on Sunday.
Wing Dylan Cole scored four tries taking his tally in the Regional Age Grade Championship to nine tries to date, while centre George Bradbury grabbed a hattrick.
There were also tries for Troy Raymond, Tom Vizard, Ottis Mighten and Jack Williams with Dragons winning 67-29 despite a late rally from the visitors.
In fact, RGC started the brightest scoring early doors before number eight Troy Raymond cut a smart line off a lineout to score, with second row Tom Vizard finishing off a team move only for the visitors to hit back once more.
Dragons held a slender 14-12 lead, courtesy of Louis Morgan’s touchline conversion before scoring nine unanswered tries either side of half-time.
Cole and Bradbury grabbed two each along with a try from Ottis Mighten to give Dragons a 43-12 lead at half-time.
A Zac Little break and brilliant Cole finish brought up the wingers hattrick before he scored his fourth in the corner.
Minutes later, Cole set up Bradbury for his third with fellow centre Jack Williams extending Dragons’ lead to 67-12.
RGC showed real grit late on, scoring three tries inside the final 15 minutes to take a four-try bonus point back up to north Wales.
With that win Dragons now sit second in the table behind Cardiff who produced a come-from-behind win against Scarlets.
Dragons will have the chance to cement their position in second place when they face Scarlets in Llandovery on Friday at 4pm ahead of the seniors’ pre-season game.
