Dragons RFC are pleased to announce dynamic hooker Oli Burrows has today agreed new terms to remain with the Men of Gwent.
The former Wales Under-20s international has enjoyed a strong second season for the club, featuring in 12 games in all competitions and scoring five tries.
The former Exeter Chiefs front row – who debuted against Leinster in September 2024 – has now put pen to paper on a new contract.
Neath-born Burrows, 23, is the seventh player to sign a new deal with the club, following in the footsteps of Angus O’Brien, Che Hope, Brodie Coghlan, Rio Dyer, Chris Coleman and David Richards.
Burrows said: “It’s been enjoyable to be a part of the progress that we’ve made this season as a group and the opportunity to continue to be a part of it is something that is exciting.
“This season has been great for me on a personal level. It’s been nice to get some minutes and string performances together, after having a bit of a layoff last season.
“As a team, we’re determined to build on the successes we’ve worked hard for this season, while I want to use this season as a springboard to kick on in the coming years by continuing to work hard and improving.
“There’s a good group of hookers here and we’re always pushing each other, so it is an exciting time to be at the Dragons.”
Senior Coach Sam Hobbs welcomed news that Burrows has agreed a new contract and said: “Oli has had an excellent season for us.
“He came back from his injury at the start of the year, worked hard to get back in good shape and he’s a physically impressive man.
“In many of his performances he has showcased his potential, whether that is ball carrying or his set piece, which has been excellent as well.
“Oli took an opportunity in the middle of the season when we had some players missing and really fronted up for us in some tough games.
“He’s got a very high ceiling and huge potential. We think he can play URC and beyond into international rugby.
“If he can stay injury free, has another good summer and end to this season, then we can look forward to seeing him hit that potential and develop further.”
