Sign Up For 26/27 Emerging Player Programme

15/07/2026

Registration is now open for the 2026/27 Dragons RFC Under-15 Emerging Player Programme (EPP), with this seasons programme starting on Monday, September 21 across five centres throughout the region.

The EPP programme, which is entering its fourth season, continues to play a vital role within the Welsh Rugby Union's player development pathway, providing talented young players additional opportunities to enhance their skills in a quality regional environment.

The Dragons EPP is designed to complement players' existing club and school rugby commitments, helping them to develop technically, tactically and personally while remaining within their local rugby communities.

The programme has already made a significant impact across the region, with a growing number of EPP participants progressing into the Dragons Academy pathway and age-grade programmes.

Lewis Roberts, Academy Manager at Dragons RFC, said: "The EPP has become an important part of our player development pathway and continues to provide young players across Gwent with valuable opportunities to challenge themselves and grow.

"The programme allows players to experience a different coaching environment, work alongside other talented players from across the region and develop skills that will support their long-term progression within the game.

"We're excited to welcome another talented group of players into the programme and look forward to supporting them on their rugby journey."

Ashley Sweet, Rugby Engagement Area Lead Officer for the Dragons Region, added: "The EPP continues to be a fantastic platform for both players and coaches to learn, develop and connect within their local rugby communities.

"Working closely with the Dragons Academy, we're committed to creating positive development opportunities that help inspire the next generation of players across the region. We are looking forward to another successful season."

The programme consists of 16 training sessions and four playing opportunities, delivered across four development blocks throughout the season.

Two blocks will take place before Christmas and two after Christmas, with each block featuring four training weeks followed by a playing opportunity in week five.

By balancing high-quality coaching, meaningful game experiences and appropriate rest periods, the EPP aims to provide an engaging and effective development environment for young players as they continue their rugby journey.
