Coghlan Set For Wales Debut

20/11/2025

Dragons’ Brodie Coghlan is set for his Wales debut on Saturday after being named on the bench for Saturday’s clash against the All Blacks.

Former Newport High pupil Coghlan will become Wales’ 1,218th should he come on to face New Zealand.

Hooker Coghlan is joined by Aaron Wainwright in the 23 with the former Whitehead RFC junior named at eight, alongside debutant Harri Deaves and Cardiff’s Alex Mann in the back row.

The other changes to the starting XV see Rhys Carré and Keiron Assiratti start in the front row, while Joe Hawkins is at 12 and Tom Rogers is on the wing.

Elsewhere, Dewi Lake once again captains the side from hooker, while Dafydd Jenkins and Adam Beard continue their partnership at lock.

Tomos Williams and Dan Edwards are at half-back, Max Llewellyn is at 13, with Louis Rees-Zammit and Blair Murray joining Rogers in the back three.

Gareth Thomas, Archie Griffin, Freddie Thomas, Taine Plumtree, Kieran Hardy, Jarrod Evans and Nick Tompkins join Coghlan amongst the replacements.

Wales head coach Steve Tandy said: “We obviously want to improve the performance from Japan.”

“I thought we had some outstanding moments against Argentina, we felt we would have liked to have improved more last weekend.

“It was obviously good to get the win, but we want to improve our own performance against a world-class opposition on Saturday.”
