Tiatia wants clear identity on tour

09/05/2025

Head Coach Filo Tiatia has called on his Dragons to bring a clear identity to how they finish the season and how they play during the tour to South Africa.

The Men of Gwent finish the BKT United Rugby Championship season with a big double-header in Cape Town and then Pretoria.

DHL Stormers are first up this Saturday (May 10) before the Vodacom Bulls bring down the curtain on the campaign next weekend (May 17).

And Tiatia wants his travelling squad to embrace the time together and challenge with a new-look team set to come together next season.

He said: “We are trying to build two weeks of bringing some clear identity of how we want to finish and how we want to play.

“This group is also not going to be the same moving to next season, so it is important that the players finish strong, and control what we can control, and that is our preparation to help with performance.

“The players have galvanised around a couple of disappointing results. To come over here and play in Cape Town and play against a very good Stormers side is a good challenge.

“We have spoken about being unified around effort and the things that people don’t always see,” he added.

“Fans want to see players not give up, and that is a factor of the game we are working hard on and fighting through fatigue. Not just physically, but how you go through moments and stay in it.

“It is also about getting the players to enjoy the moments. This group will be totally different when the season has finished, staff as well, so we must enjoy the time together.”
