Dragons Wheelchair Rugby Fighting For Top Spot

19/06/2025

Dragons Wheelchair Rugby continued their strong start to their Allied Mobility Wheelchair Rugby Fives (WR5s) campaign to remain in the top two of League 1.

The competition is fast-paced with only five players on the court at one time with hard hits along with plenty of skill on display.

Dragons currently sit in League One, the third tier of the Allied Mobility WR5s alongside RGC, West Country Hawks, Saracens and Endeavour Punishers.

After four wins from four from the opening weekend of fixtures in May, Dragons led the league on 12 points having edged out Comfortable wins against Endeavour Punishers and Saracens put Dragons Hawks and RGC by narrow margins.

Last weekend, Dragons headed to Stoke Mandeville Stadium looking to remain on top and started well with comprehensive wins against Punishers (28-10) and Saracens (24-9).

However, the Gwent side lost to their Welsh rivals RGC 19-24 with the North Walians remaining undefeated over the course of the weekend.

Those results mean that both sides are tied on top of the tree with 22 points, with RGC leading the way curtesy of their superior try difference.

The third and final tournament weekend will be held on the weekend of the 12th of July at Arena Sports-Kettering with Dragons knowing they can secure top spot if they win all four games.

If you would like to try Wheelchair Rugby, Dragons are always open to new players with a range of physical disabilities. For more information, or to get in touch, please email Karen Hopkins on karen.hopkins@dragonsrfc.wales or click HERE
